JAIDEN LAWRENCE |
An Indian Lake High School sophomore was found dead at his grandmother’s residence in Islandview on Tuesday afternoon, and deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and the Logan County Coroner’s Office are investigating the apparent self-inflicted death.
Jaiden Lawrence, 15, of 11532 Chickasaw Path, Chippewa, Lakeview, was an honors student at the school and a member of the track and field team. His grandmother arrived home to her 14015 Plum St., Islandview, Lakeview, residence about 5:20 p.m. to find him unresponsive in her garage and called the sheriff’s office.
Sheriff’s office investigators responded to the scene, and Jaiden was pronounced dead. Investigators found a .38 caliber revolver nearby Jaiden and a note in the garage area.
The Local Outreach to Survivors of Suicide Team also responded to assist the family.
The teen attended school during the day, and stopped at the Chippewa Neighborhood Outreach Center after school, leaving that facility about 3:40 p.m., investigators report.
Indian Lake High School students were officially notified this morning of the situation. School counselors and Consolidated Care Inc. counselors are providing services to students today.
“The staff and students of the Indian Lake Schools District are stunned and saddened at the news of the tragic passing of one of our students,” district officials said in a press release.
“Please keep the family and friends of this young person in your thoughts and prayers.”
Countywide grief counselors also will be available for any student or staff member who needs assistance, district officials said.
