Tishaun Crawford, 28, of Columbus, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a non-injury crash early Thursday morning on U.S. Route 33 near Township Road 37.
His passenger, Barbara K. Blevins, 28, of Richwood, also was charged with public intoxication related to the incident about 1:20 a.m.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Crawford was operating a westbound car on U.S. Route 33 and traveled off the left side of the road, striking an embankment. The vehicle then came back onto the road and drove westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 33.
The vehicle then drove off the right side of the road and came to a final rest.
Deputies were dispatched to the area in reference to a wrong-way driver, and observed that the vehicle had significant front end damage and was covered in mud.
While speaking with the driver, deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication. He refused to submit to field sobriety testing.
Deputies also observed that Blevins had trouble standing. She and Crawford were each transported to the Logan County Jail. Neither party was able to contact a sober driver,
and Crawford refused to submit to a chemical breath test. He also was cited for failure to control.
Damage was heavy to the car, which was towed from the scene.
Teen transported from rollover crash
Lindsay M. Bodi-Phillips, 17, of Huntsville, was transported by Huntsville EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash about 9:50 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies report she was operating a southbound car on County Road 39 near Township Road 100 when she lost control and traveled off the west side of the road, striking three trees. The vehicle then overturned onto its top.
Damage was heavy to the car. The driver was cited for failure to control and was wearing her seat belt.
• Jennifer L. Guseman, 46, of Tipp City, was cited for failure to control related to a non-injury crash Wednesday in the 1100 block of east County Road 57.
Deputies report she was operating a southbound car about 8:30 p.m. when she failed to maintain control on a curve and traveled left of center, exiting the road to the left and coming to a final rest in a bush.
Damage was heavy to the car, which was towed from the scene. The driver was wearing her seat belt.
• A failure to control citation also was issued to Gabriel S. Mendez, 17, of Bellefontaine, related to a crash Wednesday morning in the 400 block of north County Road 25.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound pickup about 7:40 a.m. and attempted to drive down a sloped and curved hill, losing control and sliding off the right side of the road. The vehicle sideswiped a directional sign and went into the ditch on the right side of the road. His vehicle struck a tree before coming to rest within the bush line.
Damage was heavy to the pickup, which was towed from the scene. Gabriel was wearing his seat belt.
