Firefighters of the Rushcreek Fire Department, along with a number of other area fire departments, were kept busy during Tuesday’s subzero temperatures fighting a trio of separate fires in the Rushsylvania area — a house fire, camper fire and a garage/unattached garage fire.
Rushcreek Fire Chief Duane VanBuskirk said firefighters were dispatched to the first fire at 1 a.m. at a 1 1/2-story house located at 5918 E. State Route 274, Rushsylvania, owned by Mary Lynn McDonald. Two adults sleeping in the home were awakened by a smoke detector, and were able to escape from the home uninjured, the fire chief said.
