Bellefontaine Middle School students once again can see tulip trees blooming at their school, as a result of recent plantings by the Bellefontaine Shade Tree Commission.
Avery Plikerd’s submission in the Bellefontaine Shade Tree Commission’s creative writing activity was selected tops in conjunction with a recent tree planting at the Bellefontaine Middle School, where she is a sixth-grader. |
Tulip trees had been removed to pave the way for additional parking at the present Bellefontaine Intermediate School, (site of the former BMS, and initially Bellefontaine High School at 509 N. Park St.)
The parking lot addition was made at the same time as a renovation project at the building.
The trees — planted at the site of the present BMS, 1201 Ludlow Road — were planted a few weeks ago and are visible from the cafeteria and other classrooms as commission members felt they could be enjoyed throughout the day in that location.
A creative writing activity for sixth-graders was conducted in conjunction with the planting, and Avery Plikerd’s “Stay Strong” entry was rated tops.
