Donald Williams, 75, of 628 W. Williams Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop in Bellefontaine Wednesday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reportedly observed his vehicle without an illuminated license plate in the area of west Sandusky Avenue and Walker Avenue about 10:45 p.m. and initiated the traffic stop on Walker Street near west High Avenue.
While speaking with Williams, deputies observed signs of intoxication. He at first told deputies that he had consumed one beer that night, but later stated that he’d had “three or more” at a friend’s house and was on his way home.
He refused to submit to field sobriety tests. En route to the Logan County Jail, the defendant told deputies that he also had smoked two joints of marijuana and reportedly stated “ain’t nobody going to take my weed from me.”
Williams refused to take a breath test. He also received a citation for license plate illuminated and was released to a family member.
