West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team was blind sided Tuesday by a Northeastern team that came into the game with just one win.
The host Jets knocked off the Tigers 55-54 in Ohio Heritage Conference North division action.
The Tigers led 48-40 entering the final quarter, but the Jets found an offensive surge during the fourth period and used a 15-6 run to grab the one-point victory.
WL-Salem slips to 10-5 overall and 8-4 in the league standings. Northeastern is now 2-15, 1-11.
Holden Nease fueled WL-Salem with 24 points, Nick Burden had 11 points and Eli McGill and Matthew Loffing each had six points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem defeated Northeastern 38-28. Owen Johnson led the Tigers with 11 points and Logan Saylor had eight points.
The freshman game saw WL-Salem fall to Kenton Ridge 42-22. M. Jones had 17 points for the Tigers. WL-Salem travels to Fairbanks on Friday for a big OHC contest.
