West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team used a second-half rally to turn back visiting Springfield Catholic Central 56-42 on Friday in an Ohio Heritage Conference matchup.
The Tigers are now 10-3 overall and 8-3 in the league, while the Irish fall to 3-13, 2-9.
The score was tied 10-10 after the opening quarter. Catholic Central edged WL-Salem 12-10 in the second quarter for a 22-20 advantage entering halftime.
The Tigers pulled ahead by three (39-36) in the third quarter with a 19-14 run.
WL-S closed out the game with a 17-6 scoring spurt in the final period.
Jack Eggleston fueled WL-Salem with 16 points, Nick Burden tallied 11 points, Holden Nease had 10 points and Matthew Loffing added nine points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem beat SCC 36-22. Logan Saylor sparked the Tigers with 13 points and Owen Johnson had nine points.
WL-Salem travels to Anna today for a non-league contest.
