West Liberty-Salem’s girls and boys track and field teams continued to win Tuesday after hosting a six-team meet at Tiger Stadium.
The Tiger girls impressed by winning 15 of 17 events to score 230 points.
Mechanicsburg was second with 99 points, Calvary Christian took third with 56 points, West Jefferson came in fourth with 54 points, Triad was fifth with 35 points and WL-Salem’s B squad was sixth with 25 points.
The boys meet was more competitive as WL-Salem held off M’burg 183-151 to win. West Jefferson came in third with 50 points, Calvary Christian was fourth with 49 points and Triad took fifth with 31 points.
Earning first-place finishes for WL-Salem’s girls were Mandilyn Weaver in the high jump (5-2), Selena Weaver in the shot put (32-10 1/2), Kaylee LeVan in the long jump (15-10),
Grace Estes in the 100 (13.05), Madison Bahan in the 200 (27.3), Mallory Bostick in the 400 (1:05.3), Katelyn Stapleton in the 800 (2:22.8), Megan Adams in the 1,600 (5:17.7), Claire Longshore in the 300 hurdles (50.8), Ashley Yoder in the 3,200 (11:37.7), while Lena Kauffman and Tina Douthwaite tied to win in the pole vault (7-6).
All four of the Lady Tiger relays won and that included the 400 relay of LeVan, Lilly Weaver, Estes and Stapleton (52.3), the 800 relay of LeVan, Estes, Lilly Weaver and Stapleton (1:50.8), the 1,600 relay of Bahan, Adams, Estes and Stapleton (4:11.4) and the 3,200 relay of Taylor Kennedy, Lily Smith, Maggie Davis and Maria Henderson (11:44.5).
Runner-up efforts came from Sophia Hardwick in the 100 hurdles (18.6) and 300 hurdles (52.5), Addison McAuley in the 800 (2:28.1), Kennedy in the 1,600 (6:03.9),
Henderson in the 3,200 (14:44.5), Selena Weaver in the discus (101-0), the 400 B relay of Hannah Bowman, Kerrigan Burgel, Megan Hollar and Ashley Good (57.5) and the 1,600 B relay of Bostick, McAuley, Yoder and Longshore (4:25.9).
Adding third-place finishes were Lily Smith in the 1,600 (6:22.7), Mandilyn Weaver in the 300 hurdles (54.4), Bostick in the 200 (27.4), Longshore in the high jump (4-6),
Lilly Weaver in the long jump (14-5.5), the 800 B relay of Bowman, Burgel, Megan Hollar and Good (2:02.08) and the 1,600 C relay of Mandilyn Weaver, Izzy Wygal, Maddie Cole and Megan Hollar (4:40.3).
WL-Salem’s boys had wins from Isaac Brown in the 400 (53.5), Tate Yoder in the 800 (2:08) and 1,600 (4:41), Josh Spinner in the 3,200 (10:22), Garrett Richardson in the 110 hurdles (17.8), Andrew Kimball in the 300 hurdles (42.6) and the 1,600 relay of Isaiah McGill, Logan Phillips, Kimball and Dawson Jenkins (3:41.7).
Coming in second were Dylan Lauck in the 400 (55.7) and 800 (2:15.3), Jace Wade in the 200 (24.1), Spinner in the 1,600 (4:42), Phillips in the 110 hurdles (18.6), Tyler Douthwaite in the pole vault (12-0), Trevor Berry in the shot put (39-6 1/2) and the 400 relay of Jenkins, Berry, Cooper Havens and Isaiah McGill (46.9).
Finishing in third were Brown in the 800 (2:18), Owen Harrison in the 1,600 (4:42), Phillips in the 300 hurdles (44.7), Hayden King in the discus (92-10 1/2), Berry in the high jump (5-2) and the 3,200 relay of Joey LaRoche, Mason Barger, Chandler McCafferty and Ayden Estep (10:42).
Isaac Reinhard led Calvary Christian’s boys by winning the shot put (41-4 1/2) and discus (130-4), taking second in the long jump (18-3) and placing fourth in the 100 (12.3). Caleb King added a second-place finish in the high jump (5-4).
The Spartan girls were led by third-place finishes from Abigail Reinhard in the 100 hurdles (20.06) and Anastacia Rogan in the 400 (1:11.06).
Placing fourth were Hailey Howard in the 100 hurdles (21.4) and 300 hurdles (59.07), Lexi Reames in the 1,600 (6:31.6), Reinhard in the long jump (13-0) and the 1,600 relay of Madhuri Cook, Howard, Reames and Ruby Slemmons (5:12.1).
WL-Salem is back in action Saturday at the Minster Invitational.
Ben Logan girls win tri-meet
Benjamin Logan’s girls track and field team won a tri-meet over host Lima Shawnee and Wapakoneta on Tuesday, while the Ben Logan boys came in second.
The Lady Raiders took first with 69.5 points, the Indians were second with 62.5 points and the Redskins were third with 43 points.
Lima Shawnee won the boys meet with 100.5 points, Ben Logan took second with 50.5 points and Wapak was third with 28 points.
First-place finishes for Ben Logan’s girls came from Ella Studebaker in the 100 hurdles (time not available), Sami Meeker in the 200 (29.2), Alanna Gibson in the shot put (31-6), Hannah White in the long jump (14-2), the 800 relay of Meeker, Georgia Bates, Cheyanne Peterson and Kerry Copenhaver (1:56.5) and the 1,600 relay of Bates, Meeker, Copenhaver and Isabel Henderson (4:32.6)
Taking second were Dani Widmark in the 1,600 (5:48.7), White in the 300 hurdles (54.7), Peterson in the 200 (30.03), Jordan Sexstone in the discus (85-0), Kate Vickroy (6-6), while Maddy Plikerd, Studebaker and Henderson all tied in the high jump (4-8). Also taking second was the 400 relay of Ezrah McGue, Maddy Herring, Mya Burrey and Richelle Stover (55.8).
Placing third were Bates in the 400 (time not available), Brooklyn Horner in the 800 (3:00.02), Emarie Bensman in the 100 hurdles (time not available), Gibson in the discus (82-9) and Lauren Hemmelgarn in the shot put (26-8).
Winning events for Ben Logan’s boys were Marshall Jackson in the shot put (46-9) and discus (136-2) and Jace Wical in the pole vault (12-0).
Runner-up finishes came from Davontae Fahle in the high jump (5-8) and long jump (20-2 1/2), Gabe Hemmelgarn (44-6), the 800 relay of Hunter Lattimer, Max Leezer, Gavin Gibson and Mitch Vance (1:36.5), the 1,600 relay of Lattimer, Tucker Munz, Keaghan Stahler and Vance (3:40.7) and the 3,200 relay of Munz, Stahler, Blake Rhoades and Tayte Williamson (8:57).
Adding third-place efforts were Yale Scheiderer in the 110 hurdles (19.2) and 300 hurdles (48.0) and Stahler in the 400 (55.9).
Ben Logan competes again Friday at the Chieftain Relays in Bellefontaine.
Riverside competes in 6-team meet
Riverside’s boys and girls track and field teams competed in a six-team meet Tuesday against host Fairlawn, Jackson Center, Botkins, Russia and Miami East.
Ethan Burrows highlighted the Pirate boys with a third-place finish in the discus with a fifth-place finish coming from Warren Shockey in the 100.
A host of sixth-place finishes came from Warren Shockey in the high jump, Michael Shockey in the 400 and long jump, Nate Copas in the 1,600, the 400 relay of Burrows, Braden Jenkins, Sam Knight and Skyler Hudson and the 800 relay of Dylyn Burchett, Reece Jenkins, Braden Jenkins and Hudson.
For the Lady Pirates, taking fourth were Megan Richardson in the shot put and discus, Cassie May in the high jump and Rachel Knight in the 200.
Coming in sixth were Rachel Knight in the 400, Faith Brownlee in the 800 and Ava Klingler in the 1,600.
