A woman and two men were indicted this week by a Logan County grand jury for running a drug ring from early September 2016 to early February 2017 and she was charged with selling fentanyl that led to the death of a man.
Jessica J. Meeks, 39, of 700 N. Detroit St., has been charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter, first-degree felonies; corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony; trafficking in heroin, a fifth-degree felony; aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony; and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony.
Shaun T. Williams, 49, at large, and Todd A. Prall, 44, of 11027 Mohawk Path, Lakeview, each was charged with first-degree felony engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity;
Authorities allege Meeks sold drugs to Lewis Boggs containing heroin and fentanyl sometime Jan. 19 to 20, 2017. Boggs then overdosed and later died Jan. 20, 2017. The corruption charges noted the criminal enterprise led to the death of a person.
Gambling felonies filed
Two men operating businesses in Logan County were charged with a variety of gambling offenses.
Michael S. McClain, 53, of 11291 Ash Ave., Lakeview, operating McClain Amusement LLC, has been charged with violating casino gaming laws, a fifth-degree felony; misdemeanor operating a gambling house; and two counts of misdemeanor gambling.
Indictments allege McClain operated games of chance for a profit in October and operated a gambling house between Oct. 20 and early Nov. 7, thereby violating the state’s casino laws.
Authorities seized 18 machines and more than $2,100 as part of the investigation. Brian L. Murdock, no age provided, operating Spin City of Marion LLC, 2527 S. U.S. Route 68, Unit 3, also was charged with violating casino gaming laws, a fifth-degree felony; misdemeanor operating a gambling house; misdemeanor attempted gambling and two counts of misdemeanor gambling.
He allegedly operated a gambling house between Aug. 2 and Nov. 7.
A raid of the business seized 30 machines, $1,960 at the premise and more than $49,000 from two bank accounts.
Three face sex assault-related charges
Miles K. Ball, 31, at large, was charged with rape; aggravated burglary, and aggravated robbery, first-degree felonies.
The indictment alleges he entered a woman’s home and raped her Oct. 17.
• Paul F. Miller, 54, of 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 69, has been charge with five counts of gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies; and two counts of gross sexual imposition, fourth-degree felonies.
He allegedly had sexual contact multiple times with a victim under the age of 13 between Jan. 1, 2013, and Dec. 31, 2016.
He also had sexual contact with another victim between June 2011 and June 2013.
• Eric C. Scott, 30, of 665 Humble Drive, DeGraff, has been charged with three counts of rape, first-degree felonies; and aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor. The indictment says he engaged in sexual conduct with a victim under the age of 10 three times in 2007.
Furthermore, he allegedly threatened to harm the victim.
Father faces 20 counts for beating children
Scott J. Lucius, 51, of 10231 Seminole Shore Drive, Huntsville, has been named in a superseding indictment from 2017. He now faces five counts of felonious assault, second-degree felonies; 10 counts of endangering children, second-degree felonies; and five counts of endangering children, third-degree felonies.
Prosecutors say he used a belt and mini boat oar to beat his four children, now ages 4, 8, 9 and 14, over a two-year period ending May 3, 2017.

• Jacqueline L. Loy, 53, of 413 E. Sandusky Ave.: possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony; and four misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs;
• Rusty L. Booker, 28, of 202 Grand Ave., Russells Point: four counts of endangering children, third-degree felonies; and illegal cultivation of marijuana, a misdemeanor;
•Jonathan L. Triplett, 27, of 555 Newell St., Apt. 5: two counts of trafficking in cocaine, fifth-degree felonies; and possession of cocaine, a fourth-degree felony;
• Tyitia’nna Y. L. Ferguson-Catlett, 21, of Columbus: possession of drugs, a misdemeanor; possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony;
• Austen R.A. Barnette, 21, of Kenton: possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; • Christopher Steberl, 52, of Delaware, Ohio: possession of cocaine; and aggravated possession of drugs, fifth-degree felonies;
• Robert J. Brown Jr., 42, of 11139 Tecumseh Path, Lakeview: possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony; aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony; and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony;
• Jacob W. Murphy, no age listed, of Marion: possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor counts of possession of drug abuse instruments and illegal use of drug paraphernalia;
• Dillion L. Repass, 25, of London, Ohio: domestic violence, a third-degree felony; vandalism, a fifth-degree felony; and menacing by stalking, a fourth-degree felony;
• Bradley W. Johnston, 30, 202 Grand Ave., Russells Point: four counts of endangering children, third-degree felonies; and illegal cultivation of marijuana, a misdemeanor;
