A 17-year-old city boy was apprehended Tuesday after weeks on the run.
Austin J. Allen, 310 Water Ave., was wanted on juvenile probation violations and authorities were having trouble locating him. After Tuesday’s arrest, he has been charged with delinquency counts of obstructing official business, resisting arrest and underage consumption of alcohol.
Around 8:10 p.m., officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department received information the teen was in the area of Community Markets, 309 N. Main St.
Four officers converged on the area and he was located outside the grocery.
When ordered to stop, the teen took off running westbound, but he was apprehended on Oakland Square after a foot chase.
Officers noted the juvenile reeked of alcohol. They also recovered a backpack he dropped that was wet from broken bottles of alcohol inside.
He was lodged in the Logan County Juvenile Detention Center.
Driver cited after crash
Ronald C. Vanhoose, 31, of 312 Garfield Ave., was cited Tuesday for leaving the scene of a crash and failure to control after a 1:40 a.m. hit-skip crash at First Christian Church, 215 E. Sandusky Ave.
A witness reported Mr. Vanhoose’s eastbound car traveled off the north side of Sandusky, hit a stop sign and bushes, and came to a rest near the front steps of the church.
The driver got out, stated he felt dizzy, got back in the car and drove off.
The witness took a photograph of the vehicle which helped officers track down the motorist within an hour of the crash.
Officers noted damage to a stop sign and bushes, but no damage was to the building.
