Sarah Huffington, played by Mia Printz, and her friend Belinda rally their pirate crew aboard their ship during a dress rehearsal this week for Calvary Christian School’s production of the play, Jolly Roger and the Pirate Queen, by Craig Sodaro, which is presented at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16,and Saturday, March 17. A dinner option with flapjacks, sausage, hashbrown, fruit and juice or coffee is served from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets for the play only are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Tickets for the dinner and the play option are $12 for adults and $8 for students. The storyline follows Gentleman Roger Goodman, played by Matthew Hane, who has every intention of living the conventional life once he marries the wealthy Sarah until he over hears her say she wants to marry a dashing, daring pirate. Willing to walk the plank for love, Roger buys a ship, recruits a crew and hires Long John Sliver, played by Garrett Criner, his pirate tutor, to show him the ropes. Meanwhile, Sarah knows she won’t marry a pirate unless she becomes the Pirate Queen, who is notorious for raiding ships. As luck would have it, they all end up on Treasure Island, which is already occupied by the retired pirate Bluebeard, played by Anthony Zamora, and his crew. (PHOTO | CALVARY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL)
