Passenger Michael P. Renfrow, 45, of Lakeview, was charged with possession of drugs and resisting arrest during a Friday evening traffic stop.
Officers on patrol in the area of State Route 366 and US Route 33 about 7:55 p.m. observed a vehicle make a marked lanes violation and initiated the stop.
A consent search was granted and Renfrow was asked to step out of the vehicle.
While speaking with officers, he informed officers that they would find drugs inside the vehicle and on his person.
Renfrow was placed in handcuffs and officers located suspected methamphetamine, pills, marijuana, and a meth pipe on his person. While en route to the jail, Renfrow became combative, head-butting and kicking the patrol car windows.
He also slipped out of the handcuffs and began fighting with an officer. The officer had to stop the cruiser and place Renfrow in hobble restraints.
After arriving at the jail, the defendant was placed in a restraint chair. Officers from Russells Point Police Department and the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the stop.
• Sarah Lee Russell, 43, of Lakeview, was charged with tampering with evidence and possession of a schedule II drug as a result of a traffic stop Friday evening.
Officers from the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 6:15 p.m. observed her vehicle an equipment violation and initiated the stop.
While speaking with the driver, officers noticed a clear plastic baggie with a white crystal substance inside that Russell was hiding in her hand. Officers asked Russell to step out of the vehicle, which she refused and she had to be helped out of the vehicle.
A brief struggled insued and the defendant was placed in handcuffs. Officers observed Russell throw the white crystal substance on the pavement and step on the suspected contraband.
Russell was placed under arrest and she advised that the substance was methamphetamine.
She also was cited for an equipment violation and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
