Washington Township police officers arrested two people Wednesday and confiscated drugs and paraphernalia following a traffic stop. (WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP POLICE PHOTO)
Driver Junior Ray Miller II, 50, of Alger, and his passenger, Danielle Marie Penrod, 35, of Columbus, each were lodged in the Logan County Jail for drug-related charges as a result of a traffic stop Wednesday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department observed a vehicle with a defect about 6:50 p.m. in the area of U.S. Route 33 and State Route 708. The white Ford pulled into a nearby business’s parking lot.
Officers learned that passenger Penrod was wanted on a felony warrant for drug possession out of Columbus. She was then placed under arrest.
While speaking with officers she advised that inside the center console of the vehicle, they would find methamphetamine and crack cocaine. Officers located marijuana and hyperdermic needles inside the vehicle.
Miller was placed in handcuffs while officers searched his person, locating a clear plastic bag with a white rock inside his sock.
Inside Penrod’s purse, officers located a black pair of gloves that contained two separate bags of suspected methamphetamine. Also from her possession, officer seized a plastic baggie with a black tar substance suspected to be heroin.
The pair were transported to the Logan County Jail, where female corrections staff recovered a bag of suspected methamphetamine from Penrod’s bra weighing 3.3 grams.
Penrod was charged with possession of drugs, with further charges pending. Miller was charged with possession of drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and was cited for driving without a license, a 12-point suspension and driving under OVI suspension.
