James Craft III, 43, of New Carlisle, was charged with a felony count of possession of drugs, along with obstructing official business and possession of drug abuse instruments during an incident Friday afternoon.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched about 1 p.m. Friday to the area of State Route 235 and County Road 27 on the report of a disabled vehicle that had lost two rear wheels while driving down the roadway.
Upon arrival, the driver, Craft, was hesitant to provide his personal information. He later stated that he thought there was a warrant out for his arrest, but there was not.
An officer observed James get into the driver’s side of the vehicle and make several movements inside of the vehicle.
A K-9 unit was requested and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle.
Several used syringes, a methamphetamine pipe, suspected methamphetamine, pills and suspected heroin were located inside the dash of the vehicle.
Craft was booked into the Logan County Jail and additional charges will be determined pending lab results. The Russells Point Police Department and Waynesfield Police Department assisted at the scene.
