DEER |
Dustin C. Deer, 31, of 834 Eastern Ave., was charged Saturday with felony OVI and cited for a marked lanes violation, an improper turn, driving onto a curb, not using a safety belt, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, weaving and failure to control.
At 12:55 a.m., an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol observed him eastbound in a vehicle on Columbus Avenue as it approached Main Street.
The vehicle crossed over the center line on Columbus and again on northbound Main Street. Other violations were observed by the following officer until a stop was conducted on Northview Drive.
Upon contact with Deer, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and noted the motorist’s eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred. When he stepped from the vehicle, he stumbled and fell back against it.
It was determined he was impaired by alcohol and he was taken into custody. His breathalyzer sample was 0.18.
Multiple cans of beer were found in the vehicle, the officer reports.
He also noted Deer had three prior convictions and had been issued a habitual alcoholic suspension from an August 2012 arrest.
