The Bellefontaine City Schools Board of Education finalized contract details for its top two officials at their regular rescheduled Monday evening meeting.
Members issued a “superior” annual evaluation and raise for Superintendent Brad Hall, and also administered the oath of office to Treasurer Keith Krieger after extending him a five-year contract in a retire/rehire arrangement.
The board convened in executive session for the purpose of discussing the superintendent’s evaluation. Following the session, the board voted to extend a 2 percent raise to Hall, which brings his salary to $123,208 per year, President Joan Haushalter reported. (Note: Raise percentage has been corrected after speaking with school officials Tuesday).
He is entering his fourth year of leading the district, and his current contract continues through July 31, 2022.
“Brad received a superior evaluation and has the full confidence and support of the board as we continue to focus on opportunities for all our students and achievement at all grade levels,” members said in a prepared statement. “Mr. Hall is genuinely dedicated to student achievement and success and he is completely invested in our district.
“Our students and staff benefit from this dedication and investment with an atmosphere of excellence as all of our administrators, including Mr. Hall, continue to provide exciting new challenges and opportunities for every student.
“We are inspired by innovative course offerings and extracurricular activities, and with Mr. Hall’s leadership, we expect that our students will be able to achieve continued success in a variety of curricular, co-curricular and extracurricular areas.”
Krieger’s new contract runs from Aug. 1 through July 31, 2022. The 1971 Bellefontaine High School graduate was administered the oath of office by Haushalter.
He is a 38-year district employee who was hired July 16, 1979, after working in the state auditor’s office for about 1 1/2 years. Krieger announced his retirement resignation in May, with the plans to go through the rehire process.
“We’re honored and humbled to have his 38 years of service, and are so thankful that he would consider staying on with us,” the board president said in May. “We’re in such good hands under Keith’s leadership.”
