The Holland Theatre’s upcoming season has something for just about any musical taste, according to board members who released the lineup during this past weekend’s annual membership meeting.
The fundraising gauge shaped like a vintage sign at the Holland Theatre is now at $550,000, or about two-thirds of the $860,000 needed to qualify for a $430,000 grant from the Jeffris Family Foundation to complete a major interior restoration at the historic theater. “There’s definitely something for everyone in the season ahead,” Kris Swisher, president of Logan County Landmark Preservation Inc., said, “whether you like the classics, rock and roll, folk or bands with local connections.”
“In addition to Windmill Productions’ performances, we’re excited to host Mad River Theater Works’ release of their new show Freedom Riders before they go on national tour. We’re also doing Rocky Horror Picture Show, which should be a lot of fun.”
The 2017-18 season officially kicks off Saturday, Sept. 2 with The Drifters, which is an ever-evolving lineup of musicians that has recorded R&B classics such as On Broadway, There Goes My Baby, This Magic Moment, Under The Boardwalk, Some Kind of Wonderful, Stand By Me and Save The Last Dance for Me.
Tickets for that show are going fast, but are still available for $35 for tables or $20 or $25 for theater seats, Swisher said.
