Christopher P. Shilland, 40, of Hilliard, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a traffic stop Saturday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reportedly observed his vehicle traveling at 95 mph in a 70 mph zone about 8:10 a.m. on U.S. Route 33 near State Route 540 and initiated the stop.
While speaking with the driver, Shilland, he told deputies he was running late for work. Deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication and he submitted to field sobriety tests.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail. At the jail, he informed deputies that he had been out with friends the previous evening and advised he had stopped drinking around 12:30 or 1 a.m. The defendant refused to submit to a chemi- cal urine test.
Shilland had OVI convictions in 2004 and 2008, deputies report. He was released to a sober individual.
