Indian Lake High School club of Students Against Destructive Decisions conducts a shoe-drive fundraiser that continues through April 18th.
SADD members have placed collection boxes at each district building for participants to deposit gently used or new shoes to be collected and sent to Haiti, Uganda, Indian and other developing countries.
The footwear serves as inventory for micro-businesses around the world, which helps create economic sustainability for those countries.
Participants need not go out and purchase new shoes specifically for the fundraiser, rather donate outdated or too small shoes shoes, cleats, boots, sandals, etc. from around the house.
Sizes from infant through adult are accepted. Footwear should be gently-used or like-new, and free of any rips, holes or water damage.
SADD club earns money based on the number of pounds collected, school officials said.
