Shirley Ann Monteith, born Nov. 24, 1936, age 83, of Bellefontaine, formerly of Belle Center, passed away Monday, Sept. 7, 2020, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Nina Fox.; her sister, Beverly Woodrum; her husband, Charles Monteith; and a son, Rob Monteith.
She is survived by three children, Gretchen Houchin, Marta Monteith and Jay (Michelle) Monteith; grandchildren, Kari Pooler, John (Amanda) England, Nina (Nathan) Good, Jessie (Nicole) Houchin, Steve (Alicia) Cummins, Becky Cummins, Samantha Monteith, Carson Monteith, Tasha Ruble and numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Manny (Nancy) Fox and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Shirley worked many years at Westinghouse in Bellefontaine and then went on to work at Gem’s Sportswear in Russells Point. She enjoyed square dancing with her husband, Charlie, while they were members of the Hi-Point See-Saws. She loved to travel, bake, and one of her favorite things to do was sewing, along with many other crafts.
Shirley had wished to donate her body to science and chose the Ohio State University, with her remains to be later cremated. There will be a celebration of life service at a later date. Any donations may be sent to Universal Home Health & Hospice Care.
