Shirley A. (Duff) Ammons, 86, of Newark, passed away Thursday morning, September 16, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was born in Bellefontaine on March 3, 1935, to the late Donald I. and Thelma Avis (Moore) Duff. She was also preceded in death by her sister Bette Beckwith, and brothers Karl Duff, Kenneth Duff and Keith Duff.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 67 years Lewis “Pete” Ammons; daughters and sons-in-law: Kimberly J. and Andy Green of Westerville, Karen L. Ammons of Gahanna, and Kayra A. and Barry Neighbor of Knoxville, Tennessee; 5 grandchildren: Brittney L. (Peter) Barclay, Kroy R. (Kimberly) Busche, Kole A. (Nicole) Busche, Ryan (Emily) Green, and Corey Green; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Shirley enjoyed traveling across the United States and visiting National Parks, her favorite being the Smokey Mountains. During their retirement years, Shirley and Pete spent winters in their camper enjoying the South with their friends. She also used that time to perfect her oil painting skills.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 21, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, from 4 to 7 p.m. A private family graveside will be at a later date in Zanesfield Cemetery.
