Herbert Victor LeVan, 83, of Lewistown, passed away Friday morning, September 17, 2021, at his home.
Herbert was born on July 29, 1938, in Peoria, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Victor and Esther Juanita Poling LeVan. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Eileen Stults.
On June 23, 1963, Herb married Rosemary Dell Michel in Milford Center, and she survives. He is also survived by their two sons, Louis (Melissa) LeVan, and James LeVan, eight grandchildren, Hank (Megan) LeVan, Harrison LeVan, Hadley LeVan, Cati LeVan, Frani LeVan, Holden LeVan, Kyle LeVan, and Dylan Scharrne, a great grandson, Perry Del LeVan, brother-in-law, Ken (Jeanie) Stults, and numerous cousins.
Herb was a 1956 graduate of Union Local School. He owned and operated LeVan Stables and was a horse trainer and farmer most of his life. Herb was a member of Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church, United States Trotting Association and Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association. He formerly owned Sunshine Raceway in Dade City, FL.
Pastor Debbie Ketcham will begin funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, at Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church. Visitation is Friday, September 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview, and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at church. Burial is in Lewistown Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given in Herb’s memory to Lewistown-Trinity United Methodist Church.
