SIDNEY — Deputies of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Sidney Police Department officers report a 20-year-old woman and three teens were arrested Saturday during a police pursuit as a result of several area burglaries.
Rikki Nook of Dayton was lodged in the Shelby County Jail, while the three male 17-year-olds from Dayton were transported to the West Central Juvenile Detention Facility in Troy. Each of the defendants was charged with two counts of breaking in entering, fifth-degree felonies, with further charges pending.
About 3:15 a.m., a Sidney officer attempted to stop the suspect vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed and with no headlights on Russell Road near State Route 29.
During this encounter, the vehicle slowed briefly in the area of 1612 St. Mary’s Avenue and one of the vehicle doors was opened briefly as if somebody may have dumped property. Officers later recovered a cell phone from a store display at that location.
The vehicle then fled northbound on State Route 29 at a speed in excess of 90 mph, and the officer terminated the pursuit.
