Sharon Darlene Stevens Johnson, 72, of Overland Park, Kansas, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018.
A former resident of Belle Center, she was a daughter of the late Stanley Stevens and of Marcella Highland Stevens, who survives in Bellefontaine.
She graduated from Belle Center High School and attended Bowling Green State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in education. She began teaching at Kenton High School and continued teaching in Texas, and in 1988 in Overland, Kansas, where she taught at Wyandotte High School and Shawnee Mission South. She was talented in working with underprivileged students and often was referred to as “Mama J.”
She married Randolph Edward Johnson in 1970, and he also survives, along with two children, Ryan (Erica) Johnson and Steven Johnson; four grandchildren, Cameron, Lana, Hudson and Kane; a brother, Gary (Beth) Stevens; a niece, Heather Karr; and sister-inlaw, Karen Johnson.
