Joyce Weeks, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept.19, 2018, at the Green Hills Inn, West Liberty.
She was born in Coshocton, Ohio on October 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Paul and Ada (Stevens) Wilson.
On February 17, 1951 she married Richard E. Weeks and he proceeded her in death on January 15,She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Sue Gunderson, a sister, Patty Lou Wilson, a sister-in-law, Patricia Barbee and a brother-in-law, Ernest Barbee Jr.
She is also survived by a daughter, Linda K. (Steven) Popp of West Liberty and a son, Christopher Scott Weeks of Bellefontaine, three grandchildren; Jason D. (Gretchen) Lapp, Andrea K. (Chad) Claybaugh, and Meghan D. (Scott) Miller all of West Liberty, eight great grandchildren, two sisters; Mona (Bill) Hague and Marcia Callarik, both of Cambridge, OH, and a brother, Clarence “Sonny” Hillyer of Byesville, OH and several cousins in Cambridge. Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bellefontaine. She began working as a filing clerk for Wagner’s Cookware in Sidney and later worked for Sidney Civic Association.
She then moved to St. Paul, MN and worked for Fairbanks-Morris Scale Company. After moving back home to Bellefontaine, she worked in bookkeeping for the Knowlton Construction Company.
She loved spending time with her family and she and her husband, Rich, loved traveling with family to all parts of the world including their favorite destination, China.
Pastor Ben Shaeffer will officiate a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be Sunday, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health & Hospice, 701 S. Main St. Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311.
