Driver Kaitlin M. Wood, 24, of Marysville, and her two passengers, a 2-year-old boy and a 3-month-old boy, were checked for injuries at the scene of a crash Thursday by Bellefontaine EMS personnel on Eastern Avenue in Bellefontaine.
Wood and the two children were not transported from the scene of the 7:05 a.m. crash, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies said Wood was operating a westbound car in the 1300 block of Eastern Avenue when her vehicle slid on the wet pavement and her brakes reportedly locked up. The car then went off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and a utility pole before coming to a rest.
Damage was heavy to the vehicle, which was towed from the scene. Wood and the children were properly restrained in seat belts and child safety seats. The driver was cited for failure to control.
• Robert Kruez, 78, of Hilliard, was cited for improper passing related to a non-injury crash Thursday morning on State Route 117 just north of State Route 274.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound car on S.R. 117 about 10:30 a.m. when he attempted to pass a semi tractor-trailer and didn’t see a southbound sport utility vehicle operated by Gary Newfer, 55, of Belle Center, in the southbound lane. The car struck the SUV and then both vehicles came to rest on the west side of the road.
Damage was heavy to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene. The drivers were wearing their seat belts.
• Lindsay A. Smith, 22, of West Liberty, was cited for failure to control related to a crash this morning on State Route 245 just west of County Road 1.
Deputies report she was operating an eastbound car about 5:40 a.m. when she failed to control on a curve during rainy conditions and went off the left side of the road and struck a ditch.
Damage was moderate to the car, which was towed from the scene. Smith was wearing her seat belt and was cited for failure to control.
