More than 140 local high school students traded in their spots in their classrooms Thursday to spend time outdoors at Camp Willson, 2732 County Road 11, Bellefontaine, to hone their leadership and communication skills on a sunny and warm first day of fall.
The pupils were part of two separate events that happened to coincide on the same day and location — the second annual Interact Leadership Retreat and also the Logan County Youth Leadership Kickoff for the 2016-17 school year.
About 80 Youth Leadership members in grades 9 through 12 from Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake and Riverside schools participated in team-building exercises throughout the morning. Then after breaking for lunch, the pupils met together to vote on countywide Impact Projects for the upcoming year.
“It was a great day of team building and unity,” Youth Leadership coordinator Karen Sorreles said in an e-mail. “This also kicks off the freshmen and sophomore programming year.”
