After a tightly-contested first quarter, West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball ran away from visiting Southeastern for a 63-35 win Tuesday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Tigers improve to 8-3 overall and 6-3 in the league, while the Trojans fell to 3-8, 2-7.
Southeastern battled past WL-Salem in the opening quarter for a 19-18 lead. The Tigers matched the Trojans 7-7 in the second quarter, which left Southeastern holding a 26-25 halftime lead.
The Tigers took over in the third quarter with a 23-7 run. That vaulted them in front 50-33. WL-Salem added a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to ice the win.
Matthew Loffing powered the Tigers with 19 points, Holden Nease tallied 14 points, Jack Eggleston had nine points and Nick Burden added eight points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem dropped Southeastern 54-26. Logan Saylor led the Tigers with 15 points and Owen Johnson had 12 points.
WL-Salem travels to Cedarville on Friday for its next OHC matchup.
