Ruby C. Byler, 94, of West Liberty, passed away Sunday morning, May 22, 2016, at Green Hills Retirement Community, West Liberty.
She was born in Logan County on July 17, 1921, to the late Freeman Henry and Nellie Salome Detweiler Fisher.
She married Roy H. Byler on Oct. 19, 1947, in West Liberty, and he preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2013. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kay Regier; and brothers, Lloyd Fisher, Dale Fisher and Joe Fisher.
A member of Bethel Mennonite Church in West Liberty, she retired from teaching after many years with the West Liberty-Salem Schools. Ruby and Roy enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, Europe, South America and Israel. They also spent 11 years assisting in voluntary services in Brownsville, Texas.
Survivors include her children, Richard (Penny) Byler of Greenville, Miss., Daniel Byler of Bangkok, Thailand, Rose (Don) Rosanova of Brookfield, Wis., Deborah Byler of Elkhart, Ind., and David Byler of Sandstone, Minn.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Carl Fisher of Boswell, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alvin Yoder officiates a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, at the Bethel Mennonite Church, 416 Washington St., West Liberty. Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 101 Zanesfield Road, West Liberty. A private committal service is at Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty, at the convenience of the family.
