Ronald Gene Soroko, 74, of DeGraff, passed away Tuesday morning, July 18, 2017, at Mercy McAuley Center, Urbana. He was born in Chisholm, Minn., on Sept. 10, 1942, to the late Stephen and Angeline Pozar Soroko.
Ron was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked in the Strategic Air Command. He also worked 13 years at General Motors in Moraine. He enjoyed country music, fishing and traveling with Erma in their RV.
Ron is survived by his wife Erma Wilhelm Soroko, whom he married Dec. 26, 1960, in Richmond, Ind.; three stepchildren: Edward (Carol) Carmen, Kitty (David) Sweet and Carl Brewer, all of Fairborn; five grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Denny, Tina (Adam) Brewer, Cathy (Noel) Day, Chris (Hyesong) Humiston and Scott (Debbie) Baker; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen (Sue) Soroko of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Edward (Sue) Soroko of Chisholm, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Mark Atterholt officiates the funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, July 24, at Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St. DeGraff, where visitation is one hour prior to the service. Burial is in New Carlisle Cemetery.
