Details have been released from a single-vehicle crash that forced an hours-long closure Monday, Feb. 19, of a connecting ramp between U.S. routes 33 and 68.
Michael Cantrell, 37, of Dayton, was cited for failure to control after he reportedly lost control of a 2018 white International tractor-trailer along the off-ramp at westbound U.S. Route 33 exiting onto northbound U.S. Route 68.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report Cantrell was westbound on U.S. 33 when he merged onto the exit ramp to U.S. 68 north and lost control.
Cantrell reportedly attempted a series of overcorrections and the tractor-trailer veered back and forth before eventually rolling over onto its side.
A passenger in the vehicle was evaluated by Bellefontaine Fire and EMS, but was not transported. Damage was heavy to the tractor-trailer, which had to be towed from the scene.
The ramp was closed for nearly three hours as a result of the crash.
