Bertie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, following an extended illness. She was in the presence of loved ones and passed very peacefully.
Bertie, 72, of Russells Point, was born on Oct. 3, 1948, in Bellefontaine, to C. Leroy and F. Elinor Dowden who survive. She is also survived by her husband of 32 years, Jeffrey B. Lange. Also surviving are sisters, Sharon Hanger of Bellefontaine, and Carol (Weldon) Jordan of Reynoldsburg and brother, Richard Dowden of Ironton.
She was a devoted and caring mother of Nikki (Mike) Moscinski of Toledo, Holly Maier of Huntsville, T. Kirk Knott of Virginia Beach, Dustin (Nikki Stringfellow) Lange of Santa Fe, Ryan (April) Lange of Lakeview, and Angela (Brian Sullivan) Savage of Bellefontaine. She loved her 16 grandchildren, and they are: Miranda Moscinski, Samantha Moscinski, Zach Maier, Claire Maier, Gabriella Maier, Tyler Knott, Trent Knott, Norah Lange, Jace Lange, Oliver Lange, Burke Lange, Jaylyn Savage, Ava Lange, Donnie Tanner, Kaitlyn Tanner and Alexis Meeker. She also has one great granddaughter, Raina Davidson. Also surviving are brothers/sisters-in-law, James Lange, Deanna (Rodney) Tinsley, Darlene (Mark) Knight, and Joel Lange.
She was preceded in death by a stepson, Jasen B. Lange, brother-in-law, Charles Hanger, and nephew, Brian Miller.
Bertie was a member of Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church and active in women’s small groups. She looked forward to Bible study on Wednesday mornings with the “girls”. Bertie was a Class of ’66 graduate of Indian Lake High School. She was a local banker for over 30 years, starting at The Farmers Bank Company in Lakeview, and ending at Liberty National Bank in Bellefontaine as a commercial loan officer. Bertie and Jeff also owned Lange Photography from 1988-2008. She attended Ohio Institute of Photography from 1990-1992.
She will not be forgotten, only deeply missed.
Pastor Eric Cook will begin funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, 624 Township Road 55, Bellefontaine. Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at church. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery. Due to state Covid-19 pandemic guidelines, attendees are asked to be symptom free, maintain social distancing and wear a facial covering.
