Robert Fred Laird, 79 of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 2:45 p.m. in the Emergency Room at Mercy Hospital, Urbana.
Bob was born February 26, 1942 in Urbana, Ohio, the son of Fred H. and Rebecca E. (Luellen) Laird. He had previously resided in Bellefontaine and Urbana, having been employed at Rockwell and Carter Steel in Bellefontaine and London Industries in London. He had been a member of the Mechanicsburg Eagles Lodge #3974 for many years.
Bob enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, having a beer with his friends, and telling people what he was going to do when he won the lottery. Bob had a great natural artistic ability and took pride in creating many beautiful pictures and etchings.
Bob is survived by his children, William A. Laird, John Clift (Deb) Laird, and Chelia Weber; sister, Patricia (Don) Sprague; grandchildren, Evan, Isaac, Laban and Jonah Laird, Kyle Weber and Victoria Weber.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, son, Bobby Dee Laird, brother, John H. Laird and grandson, Cody Laird.
A gathering of family and friends will be conducted from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 15, in the Skillman, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. The Eagles service will follow at 3 p.m.
