Robert (Bob) David Carter was born on January 19, 1954, to November 26, 2021. He was a graduate of West Liberty-Salem in 1972. In life, he was involved in numerous community organizations and a loyal subscriber to various John Deere tractor magazines.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and LaVonne (Leimbach) Carter, his brother John Carter, and his nephew, Shannon Pence. He is survived by his son, Robert Michael (Lisa) Carter and his daughter, Terri Lynne (Jackson) Shafer, and his other half, LeAnn Ceran.
Bob is survived by his numerous grandchildren; (Michael and Lisa) Jordan Carter, Madeline Hutton, Addison Carter, Britton Carter, and Deyvn Carter; (Jackson and Terri) Taylor Evonne Shafer, Paige Analee (Trey) Shafer, Shaden Jackson Shafer, and Raylind Russel Shafer.
Also surviving are LeAnn’s children, Lindsey Kaye (Marcus) Burton with four children, Noah, Mali, Ellie, and Ezra; Cassie Lee (Brian) Conley with two children Emmry and Lincoln; Katie Lynn (Darren) Andrews with two children Zane and Jace.
He is survived by his four siblings: Marjorie (Michael) Detwiler of Florida, sister-in-law, Suzy Geise of Springboro, Pamela Griffith of Mechanicsburg, Jeffery Carter of Urbana, and Marianne Matthews of Urbana. Many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, (Taylor Shafer) Jayden Mack and Aryanna Iacovelli.
Bob was an avid lifetime farmer, sports enthusiast with love of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and The Ohio State University Buckeyes, enjoyed and supported the Champaign County fair, the 4-H, the local FFA, as well as sharing and teaching his farming knowledge with his family, loved fast cars, knowledgeable of great restaurants, loved raising and breeding Great Pyrenees, but most importantly, Bob was a family man.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Wednesday, December 1, from 4 to 7p.m. at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home, Urbana.
