Riverside Business Professionals of America students made 150 trips to the stage to collect their hardware for placing in the top 10 of contests during a recent awards ceremony for the Regional 16 BPA Contest.
Forty-two Riverside students have qualified for the state contest after competing in the virtual regional competition against 20 different career tech programs at 11 different schools, including: Apollo Career Center, Benjamin Logan High School, Graham High School, Indian Lake High School, Kenton High School, Marysville Stem Early College High School, Mechanicsburg, Tri Star, Upper Scioto Valley High School, Vantage Career Center and Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.
The career tech student organization at Riverside includes 97 members who took more than 350 contests to the regional event.
Riverside BPA advisers Lindsay Wyan and Michelle Weadock applauded the students’ efforts during what has proved to be a most challenging year.
“Despite the national competition also being held virtually instead of the planned Orlando location, the BPA members continued to put their best foot forward to create an atmosphere of success for the Riverside program,” the advisers said. “In addition to the hours of work outside of the classroom, and with no trip in sight, these students show that their self motivation and initiative is something that is not just for the reward, but for the chance at professional growth and development.”
