The Ridgemont Local Schools administration and board of education members honored the life of high school senior Keegan Laine McKee during their brief Thursday evening board of education meeting.
Keegan, 17, passed away Feb. 17 as the result of a motor vehicle crash on State Route 292 in Hardin County. The school was placed on a two-hour delay that day, and her visitation was Thursday and funeral is at 3 p.m. today at the gymnasium of the former Ridgemont High School building in Ridgeway.
Students in grades K-12 also were released early at 1 p.m. today for the funeral.
“This has been an incredibly difficult week for the Ridgemont family,” Superintendent Emmy Beeson said at the meeting. “Grief has been tangible, but so has hope. The amazing outpouring of love and support from the Ridgemont community, neighboring school districts, sheriff’s office, fire and EMS, and Hardin County as a whole has been overwhelming.
“This sentiment has been expressed repeatedly by staff and students and by the McKee family as well. No one would ever wish to walk down this tragic road, but when adversity comes, as it inevitably does, there is no other community I would want to walk with.
