Richard Henry Strayer, 85, of DeGraff, passed away at 6:53 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine. He was born in DeGraff on June 8, 1935, a son of the late Raymond and Christine (Sidle) Strayer.
On October 23, 1954, Dick married the former Patricia Sue Taylor in Winchester, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Strayer; three sisters, Lucille Miller, Louise Beatty, and Catherine Kuhn; and four brothers, Donald Strayer, Sherman Strayer, Harley Strayer, and Robert Strayer.
Dick is survived by his daughter, Jayne (Tony Bilyeu) Strayer; two grandsons, Joshua Strayer and Justin Strayer; four great grandchildren, Evan Strayer, Emma Strayer, Abi Strayer, and Izzy Strayer; and several nieces and nephews.
Dick had retired from Glacier Daido in Bellefontaine and was a member of the Bellefontaine Fraternal Order of Eagles #2166. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, making horseradish, all types of farm equipment, and most especially entertaining friends.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes Street, DeGraff. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff, Ohio.
