Tigers’ McIntosh repeats as DIII coach of the year
Despite opponents focusing their defenses on stopping her, Benjamin Logan’s Nikki Current continued to put up big scoring numbers for the Raiders this season.
A junior guard, Current averaged 21 points per game in leading the Raiders to their third straight Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division championship.
Current reaped the benefits of her standout season by being named Wednesday to the Associated Press Division II all-Southwest District first team.
Current, who also was a first-team all-district selection last year, scored 41 points in a game against Upper Scioto Valley and had 35 in a win over state-ranked North Union.
She became the school’s all-time leading scorer this season and has scored over 1,400 points in her career with another campaign remaining next year.
“Nikki puts in an incredible amount of work,” said Ben Logan head coach Donnie Sosby. “She is a great team player as well. She drew a lot of double teams but she didn’t force things. She worked with her teammates to get other people involved.”
