CLEVELAND (AP) — Police say a security guard at a Cleveland fast-food restaurant pepper sprayed and then fatally shot a man after the man reportedly attacked him.
A police release says officers responding to a McDonald’s for an assault with shots fired Tuesday night found a man with a gunshot wound outside on the sidewalk.
The man was pronounced dead and the Cuyahoga (ky-uh-HOH’-guh) County Medical Examiner’s office identified him as 32-year-old Andre Foster.
The release says police were told Foster attacked the 57-year-old guard earlier, left the restaurant and returned with another man. Police say Foster then reportedly threatened patrons before charging at the guard, who pepper sprayed and shot him.
Police say Foster ran outside and collapsed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate. They haven’t said whether anyone will be charged.
