Phillip “Phil” R. Harford, 78, of Lakeview, passed away, Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health Systems, Lima, Ohio.
Phillip was born on June 1, 1943, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, a son of the late George H. and Vertie F. Taylor Harford. Phil is preceded in death by his first wife, Kay Burnside Harford, who died in 1973. He is also preceded in death by two siblings, Jim Harford, and Joyce Moore.
Phil married the former, Mary Ann Bartolo on April 12, 1977, at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lakeview and she survives. He is also survived by four children, Robert (Myra) Culbertson of Campo, CA, Nancy (Scott) Greene of DeGraff, OH, James Culbertson of Lakeview, and Michelle Mills of Georgetown, KY, 10 grandchildren, Louis, Kimberly, Nicole, Sara, Joe, Luke, Jade, Kaleb, Brayden, and Emalee, eight great grandchildren, Phoenix, Dylan, Tyler, William, Stella, MacKenzie, Ryan, and Davis, his beloved canine companions, Lotsie and Allie, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Phil was part of the last graduating class of Stokes Local School in 1961. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam. Phil was a life member of Doyle R. Miller Amvets Post #39. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and used to be a knife maker. As a youth, he was a Boy Scout. Phil was a jokester and storyteller, who loved to spend hours talking with his many friends. His greatest joy was being with his family.
Reverend Jim Ellington will begin funeral services, 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visitation from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps and Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
