Local resident and Benjamin Logan Schools parent Erin Sallee recently was honored by the school district for her efforts this school year to create a total of 33 positive messaging paintings throughout Benjamin Logan Middle School. Her colorful paintings feature messages such as, “Be A Buddy, Not a Bully,” “Your mistakes don’t define you” and “Let your smile change the world, Don’t let the world change your smile.” She spent weekends and evenings since September sharing her artistic talents with the community. When the BLMS Principal Scott Frederick asked her why she wanted to pursue this project, she said, “If a child came into school having a bad day, maybe seeing a painting or a quote would change how they feel. Maybe it would brighten their day. Maybe it would help kids be friendlier to other kids.” Mr. Frederick said, “Mrs. Sallee’s talent is making a difference in the lives of our students.” The mother of Sidney and Andrew Sallee donated her time and her own paint, and in return the teachers and staff members presented her with a large gift basket filled with various items.
