Russells Point Police officers arrested Tammy Sedgwick, 45, of Bellefontaine, and Kenneth Wilkinson Jr., 30, of Bellefontaine, following a traffic stop about 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, on U.S. Route 33 near Lincoln Boulevard in the village.
They were charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Officers had responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot at Huntington National Bank, 340 E. Main St., Russells Point, and the stop was made on U.S. 33.
Sedgwick was driving and she was asked to step from the vehicle when officers learned of a potential warrant for her arrest. While speaking with her, officers became suspicious about the potential for drugs in the vehicle and they were granted consent to search. They discovered several plastic pieces coated with a white powder, baggies containing white powder resident, two metal pipes consistent with crack coacaine drug use as well as other paraphernalia. She admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day, but could not explain the pipes.
Upon questioning it was determined her passenger, Wilkinson, had removed the crack pipe from his pocket during the traffic stop and hid it between the passenger seat and console.
They were lodged at the Logan County Jail.
Washington Township Police Department assisted.
