Marissa F. Ball, 23, of 533 N. Madriver St., was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. She also was issued traffic citations for failure to drive in the marked lanes of the road and an improper turn.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol observed Ball operating in a car eastbound on Court Avenue and across Detroit Street at a high rate of speed shortly before 2:25 a.m.. She continued to southbound Canby Street and then eastbound on Chillicothe Avenue.
While turning from Canby, her car traveled across Chillicothe and nearly struck a curb before traveling over the painted parking space markings on the road.
The officer followed her eastward to Madriver Street where she reportedly made an improper turn northbound. A traffic stop was soon conducted in the lot of Madriver Marathon, 200 E. Sandusky Ave.
Upon contact, the officer noted Ball’s bloodshot, glossy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverages on her breath as she spoke.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was under the influence of alcohol and she was taken into custody. She submitted a breathalyzer sample of 0.115.
She was released to a sober driver.
• Brendon Gladue, 36, of 1600 S. Detroit St., Apt. 5, was arrested for multiple driving under OVI suspension infractions after a 4:45 p.m. traffic stop Sunday.
He was observed driving into the parking lot of Walmart, 2281 S. Main St., and taken into custody after he came out of the store.
• James P. Heilman, 34, of 509 E. Sandusky Ave., was charged Saturday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and issued traffic citations for failure to drive in the marked lanes of the road and an improper turn.
He was stopped around 1:20 a.m. after an officer observed him drive a car from Lake Avenue onto Main Street, straddling the white dash line separating the two northbound lanes. The officer reports observing additional lane violations and weaving before a stop was conducted in the parking lot of Speedway, 329 S. Main St.
Upon contact, the officer detected an odor of alcohol coming from Heilman. His eyes were bloodshot and glossy and his speech was thick and slurred, the officer reported. He reportedly staggered when he exited the car and used the vehicle to keep his balance.
He refused to participate in field sobriety tests or submit a breathalyzer sample.
He was released to a sober driver.
