Orville J. Brandt, known to family and friends as “Jack,” passed away Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at the age of 84 years.
Born in Bloom Center, Ohio, son of Orville and Faye Brandt, Jack was a graduate of Washington High School (Lewistown), attended the Ohio State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education, obtained a master’s degree in education from Xavier University, and was a life long educator. He built into the lives of students at several schools: Strasburg-Franklin (Tuscarawas County), DeGraff Riverside (Logan County), Calvary Christian (Bellefontaine), and Cedarville University.
In the summer of 1958, Jack met the love of his life, Miss Betty June Harshbarger, and they were married June 18, 1960, in West Virginia. The Lord gave them nearly 54 years together, and blessed them with three children. He was a member of Grace Chapel Church in West Liberty, and in recent years attended Findlay Evangelical Free Church in Findlay.
He is survived by his sister Shirley, his brother Rodney, daughter Jennifer Conner (Jeff), sons Brad Brandt (Sherry) and Matt Brandt (Karen), seven grandchildren (Julie, Katie, Logan, Marshall, Shelley, Drew, and Elizabeth), and two great-grandchildren (Elias and Adaline), and many other family members and friends. Jack was predeceased by his wife Betty in 2014, his sister Vivian, and his brother Phil.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Findlay Evangelical Free Church, 2515 Heatherwood, Findlay, OH 45840.
Following the service, family and friends will be given the opportunity to encourage one another in the church fellowship room while enjoying a box lunch prepared by the church. Due to the current pandemic, masks are requested. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Jack can be made to either Findlay Evangelical Free Church or Scioto Hills Christian Camp and Retreat Center (Wheelersburg, Ohio).
