Orville J. Scaggs, formerly of Troy and Lakeview and more recently of Findlay, passed away Dec. 18, 2017.
Orville was born June 12, 1920, in Portsmouth, to the late Amos and Kansas Johnson Scaggs.
He is survived by his children and their families, Alice and Eugene Bauer and their sons, Chris and Elaine Bauer with Emily, Ethan and Kiara, of McComb, and Joe Bauer of Troy; James and Ruth Ann Scaggs and their sons, the late Eric Scaggs and Toddand Anne Scaggs and their family, Savannah Scaggs, Isabella Scaggs, Gage McCann and Elise McCann of Troy; and Betty and Ronald Stewart of Troy and their children, Tracy Taylor, Terri Rameriz, Julio C. DeLeon and Ladonna DeLeon; a sister, Annalee Moore of Troy; half-brothers, Wayne Osborne of Kentucky and Arthur Scaggs of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and a grandson, he also was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Orville proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. 5th Air Force of the Army Air Corps in Japan during WWII. He attended the Lakeview Baptist Church and was a member of the VFW Post and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens. Orville was former owner of Scaggs Market and formerly worked with Waco Aircraft.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, following calling that begins at 10 a.m. Pastor David Shepherd officiates and iterment follow sin the Riverside Cemetery, Troy, with veteran’s honor guard services.
