Dusty L. Penrose, 30, of 309 E. Columbus Ave., Apt. 2, was charged Wednesday with carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons under disability, unlawful possession of dangerous ordnance, having weapons while intoxicated and unlawful possession of certain weapons.
Around 9 p.m. officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department received a complaint about a man with a gun and stopped the suspect in the 100 block of north Main Street.
He was stumbling as he walked, officers report.
Upon contact, he was ordered to pull his hands from the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and raise them to his head. He complied and was peacefully handcuffed.
Five .22-caliber bullets were found in a pants pocket, but not the gun.
Officers canvassed the area and found a loaded, homemade pistol and knife in a nearby trash can.
He has a prior conviction for arson, officers noted.
Suspect charged
Eric J.S. Brown, 23, of 1600 S. Detroit St., Apt. 42, was charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct.
Around 5 p.m., he allegedly threatened Rodney Scott of Bellefontaine with a knife outside LeVan’s Service Center, 1320 S. Main St.
The suspect was stopped in the 400 block of south Main Street.
He admitted to wanting to fight Mr. Scott, but denied brandishing a knife.
Couple charged with domestic violence
Stephanie Ann Burton, 22, of 1228 Reservoir Road, and Zachery D. Long, 24, of 6577 Fruit St., Huntsville, each was charged Friday with domestic violence.
Around 10:40 a.m., officers arrived at Ms. Burton’s residence. The two began arguing over care for their child and assaulting each other.
Both had visible injuries.
He was in the process of leaving so both were issued summonses.
Woman denies smoking
Amanda D. Ray, 42, of Lima, was charged Saturday with smoking in a prohibited public place.
Around 4:45 p.m., an officer and Mary Rutan Hospital nursing supervisor detected a strong odor of cigarette smoke coming from a stall in a restroom in the emergency department.
After flushing the toilet, she emerged from the stall as smoke hung in the air.
She denied smoking and claimed she ran out of cigarettes before arriving at the hospital.
She was issued a summons.
The officer noted she lit another cigarette after she departed the hospital.
Driver charged with OVI
Priscilla B. Gibson, 36, of 484 County Road 8, West Mansfield, was charged Thursday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Around 11:40 p.m., an officer observed two vehicles in the parking lot of Los Cabos, 125 Dowell Ave., and approached a van with its lights on and motor running.
Ms. Gibson was one of two women in the vehicle and they told the officer she was leaving her sport utility in the restaurant’s lot for the night.
The officer continued on his patrol, but soon observed both the van and the SUV travel onto Rush Avenue.
He followed and observed the SUV weaving and initiated a stop at County Road 9.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired and she submitted breathalyzer samples. Both were more than 0.11.
She was released to her husband.
