BRANDYBERRY |
Franklin Brandyberry, 54, of Russells Point, wascharged with menacing, resisting arrest and a probation violation related to an incident Saturday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township officers were dispatched at 9:30 p.m. to 600 Lincoln Ave., Apt. 328, Russells Point, on the report of an intoxicated male pounding on the door of a residence attempting to assault his wife.
Upon arrival, the defendant initially refused to exit his residence. Brandyberry then advised an
officer that he was going to exit the residence and “punch the officer in the face.”
When the defendant exited the residence, he was advised he was under arrest. However, he reportedly turned away from the officer, avoiding the officer’s commands and attempted to go back in the residence. Brandyberry then slammed the door on the officer, pinning the officer between the door and the door frame.
The officer deployed a Taser to gain control of Brandyberry until additional officers arrived.
Officers noted the defendant was extremely intoxicated.
Brandyberry was taken into custody and was medically cleared by Indian Lake EMS, a standard procedure when a Taser is utilized. He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office and officers of the Russells Point Police Department assisted at the scene.
