Corie R. Anderson, 27, at large, was charged Sunday with possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of drug abuse instruments and obstructing official business and was served a warrant for failure to appear.
He was observed at 4:10 p.m. near Madriver Street and Sandusky Avenue. He took off running southbound and was apprehended in a parking lot two blocks away, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
A small bag with marijuana was found in the right front pocket of the suspect’s pants and two capped hypodermic needle syringes were found in his left front pants pocket.
He admitted the syringes were for heroin use and one contained heroin.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Dog owner faces multiple charges
Paul J. Fulmer, 41, of 621 Albert St., was charged Sunday with two counts of having a dog at large after his two pit bulls were running loose around 11:30 a.m.
One of the dogs bit a 9-year-old boy at a neighbor’s residence before returning to the Fulmer home. While speaking with Josh Canter outside his 525 Albert St. residence, the two dogs charged out of the Fulmer residence toward the officer and witness.
They both jumped in the cruiser to avoid the dogs. The dogs charged the cruiser several times and another neighbor before going back into 621 Albert St.
A relative of Mr. Fulmer arrived and shut the dogs inside the house.
He was called to the residence and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on an earlier charge of having a dog at large.
The victim sustained abrasions and a small cut from the attack.
Police pursue leads in hit-and-run crashes
Officers are investigating a 2 a.m. hit-and-run crash Saturday in front of 412 E. Lake Ave.
Resident Jesse Charles Houchins’ legally parked car was hit in the rear by an eastbound car registered to Ashley Shepherd of Bellefontaine.
The Houchins car was knocked forward and came to a rest blocking the drive of the neighboring property at 416 E. Lake and the Shepherd car was driven from the scene by the driver.
The driver fled on foot, police report.
Damage was heavy to the cars.
• April Anderson, 23, of 809 Heritage Court, Apt. 27, is under investigation for a hit-and-run crash at 10:55 a.m. Sunday on Walker Street. Police report her westbound car hit a parked sport utility vehicle registered to Zachary Tyler Bodenmiller of Bellefontaine.
She allegedly drove from the scene and parked the car at 916 Euclid St. The car was located by officers after receiving a call from the suspect’s mother.
The mother told officers her daughter admitted to being drunk at the time of the crash and intended to lie to police.
On Monday, the suspect called officers and claimed she was in Columbus and had been over the weekend. She was asked to appear at the department by 1 p.m., but did not.
