Charles K. Jackson, 58, of 616 S. Main St., Apt. H, was charged Thursday with possession of methamphetamine after a 12:10 a.m. traffic stop on on Lincoln Avenue near Detroit Street.
He was stopped after an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol observed just one working brake light on Jackson’s pickup truck.
The officer approached and asked for a driver’s license and proof of insurance. The officer observed several rolling papers in Jackson’s wallet as he retrieved his license.
When asked, Jackson denied there was any contraband in the vehicle and he consented to a search of himself and the pickup. Marijuana product vape cartridges were found in the rear passenger area of the pickup while a container with methamphetamine was found wrapped in paper towels sprinkled with coffee grounds stashed the battery and coolant reservoir in the motor compartment.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Huntsville woman faces theft charge
Antionette Thompson-Swierat, 54, of 10538 County Road 286, Lot 1, Huntsville, was charged Wednesday with theft.
Around 12:20 p.m., an employee at Walmart, 2281 S. Main St., found a cart outside the store with $305 in merchandise and began pushing it inside. The suspect stopped the employee, stating the cart was hers. She was unable to produce a receipt for the items and was detained by store security.
A review of surveillance videos revealed the suspect pushed the cart past the checkout area and out of the store. Once outside, she removed $245 in merchandise and walked back inside to the return counter. She received a return for the items and then walked back out where she encountered the employee with the cart.
She was arrested and lodged in jail.
