Breastfeeding Awareness Month celebrated

Today marks the 44th anniversary for Logan County Health District Nursing Director Kay Schroer receiving her nursing license in 1973, starting out a heartfelt career caring for many families in the community.
At Wednesday’s Logan County District Board of Health meeting, she submitted her retirement resignation from the position, she said with many mixed emotions.
“I wanted to be a nurse since I was 14 years old,” said Mrs. Schroer, who has worked at the health district for 13 years, serving as the nursing director for eight years. Previously, she worked as a nurse with Logan County Children’s Services.
“I wrote my retirement resignation letter the other day and knew I needed to submit it before I changed my mind; it’s time for me to spend more time with my family. I’ve loved working in public health, and I feel it’s such an important role.
